Swallowtail's generations

With patience and a bit 'of perseverance I was able to detect the proximity of these two caterpillars Machaon that bring out clearly their different stages of development. The caterpillars feed on the alternate moments of the host plant, moving continuously as they eat the various ramifications, long pauses of absolute stillness. © Giuseppe Varano www.natureandwildlifeimages.blogspot.com

Taking advantage of one of these breaks has been possible exposure 4 / 2 needed to maintain the lowest possible sensitivity of the diaphragm with an opening that has made the environment without making it too noticeable, to my taste, and this too confusing. The host plant in this case is represented by sweet fennel (Foeniculum vulgare ) normally in vegetable cultivation. The leaves of this plant, even more so when they are approximated by their cultivation in the group, creating an intricate network of branches on which the sun's direct light generated would be difficult to manage light and shade so that in this case, as in many others, the overcast sky has functioned as a providential speaker natural.

Ninfa attentive and curious

Two similar shots to this nymph praying mantis, but I like to consider complementary ... actually I'm not going to choose between the two so I decided to keep them both. Despite the good brightness of the scene and tripod, the light breeze forced me to raise the ISO to have sufficient time to prevent any micro-motion.

These two large caterpillars belong to the same species: the moth Deilephila elpenor that the larval stage appears to have these two forms of different colors . Discorso differente per eventuali incontri con aironi o Argiope bruennichi many of those present along the banks of irrigation ditches where they were shooting pictures. © Giuseppe Varano www.natureandwildlifeimages.blogspot.com

Some of the young of the year in the unit stationed in saline during their migration to wintering areas. Do any of these subjects will, most likely, among the challengers in the future battle arenas during the next breeding season.

This step has given me in setting man on the door of the hallway entrance of the house to play with graphic inspired by the veins and cracks in the wood by setting a deliberately selective depth of field to look for a likely short-lived, three-dimensionality.
