How to tell if a woman is faithful
L Sicilian and legends as we know, do not spare nothing and nobody, neither biblical nor historical figures! What I want to tell is the legend associated with the death of St. John the Baptist. According to the Gospel, Herodias, the wife of Herod Philip and Salome's mother, left her husband and went to live with her brother Herod Antipas.
St. John the Baptist did not agree with this choice, publicly condemned the conduct of Herod Antipas.
Erodiale asked Herod to behead him, but he refused to do so.
One day Herod Antipas organized a feast. Erodiale invited her daughter Salome that he performed a dance that greatly pleased Herod, who vowed to give her a reward what she wanted. Salome, instigated by his mother, said the head of John the Baptist and the king could not refuse because the promise was was heard by all people. A guard beheaded the Saint, and brought the head to Salome on a platter. The girl handed the tray to her mother Herodias, who had his revenge as well.
A Termini Imerese is said, however, another story ...
It is said that he began courting Salome San Giovanni Battista, but he refused his advances. Salome, decided to avenge his father and asked for his beheading. And so it was!
Revenge, however, not brought peace, it is said that as he walked in the footsteps that were left full of blood and every time he tried to rest it appeared a man beheaded.
He decided to travel and arrived Imera, Termini Imerese and the current gave rise to a church in honor of the Holy Martyr, but even this gesture gave her peace in the church built next to a spring of blood.
socket from the torment Salome jumped into a river and died, disappearing altogether.
Salome is said that it appears June 23 of each year, on the eve of the feast of St. John the Baptist. As soon as the sun rises in the June 24 is rejected in the river to serve his eternal punishment.
